12 winter storms expected in Chihuahua

The SMN predicts 10 to 12 winter storms that will affect Mexico, with the highest number of systems being December and January; On Thursday, November 25, the first winter storm begins, which is currently located over the southwestern United States and will affect Chihuahua and possibly six other states in the north of the country.

Alejandra Méndez Girón, coordinator of the National Meteorological Service (SMN), reported that the first winter storm began this November, which opened the 2021-2022 season: it would end in March 2022, with low pressure systems that will be located at different atmospheric levels.

Luis Alberto Ortega Vázquez, director of the National Center for Communication and Operation at the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC), recommended that citizens take shelter in thick clothing and closed footwear, protecting sensitive areas such as:

“Eat healthily; reinforce the consumption of fluids and vitamins; ventilate spaces with a heater, to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning; do not drive on slippery roads; protect livestock and pets, as well as plants that are susceptible or in the open ”.
