A draw m

Aissa Laidouni has done a lot of work.

The Tunisians did not come to Qatar to make up the numbers. With a brave face, Tunisia was able to hold off Denmark (0-0) on Tuesday on behalf of the first day of Group D of the 2022 World Cup.

Moved in the first period, the Danes recovered after the break, but scored against the very courageous Tunisians. Before challenging Australia at 8 p.m., France saw quality in their two future opponents.

Omnipresent Laidouni, dangerous Jebaliā€¦

In a stadium won over to the cause of the Tunisians, Jalel Kadri’s men showed great desire in the first few minutes, like a totally overexcited Laidouni. More enterprising, the Carthage Eagles even got the first chance of the game with a shot from Drger deflected by Christensen just next to his post! Jostling, the Danes stammered their football with in particular a totally transparent Dolbergā€¦

However, over the minutes, the Scandinavians found color in the wake of an inspired Eriksen in his crosses. With a positive aggressiveness, Tunisia played every shot thoroughly and even thought to open the scoring with a goal logically denied Jebali for an offside. With great intensity until the break, the two countries went blow for blow and Schmeichel even had to save his team in front of Jebali, who was offside but the referee did not signal it.

The Danes wake up, Cornelius’ rat!

After half-time, the Tunisians came back with the same intentions and a Laidouni still just as impressive in the midfield. Just like Jebali in the first half, Skov Olsen thought he had scored, but an offside from Damsgaard was logically whistled. Empowered by this action, Denmark seized control of the ball and exerted increasing pressure in the opposing camp.

With constant solidarity, Tunisia held on tight and resisted with a superb save from Dahmen on a long shot from Eriksen. On the corner in the crowd, the Tunisians were saved with a missed header from Cornelius on the post! Unbelievable ! With the players on a physical level, the end of the game was very messy and the two teams left on this parity score.

The score of the match: 5.5/10

A particularly intense meeting. Without any complex, Tunisia approached this match with great aggression in order to shake up Denmark. And even if the debates were balanced over the minutes, there was a good rhythm with really tough duels between the two countries. We can obviously regret quite rare occasions and a game without the slightest goal…

Players’ NOTES

Maxifoot awarded a mark (out of 10) commented on each player.

Man of the match: Aissa Laidouni (7/10)

What impact! As much to say right away, the midfielder of Tunisia had waste in his attempts with some imprecise passes. But how to blame him for this lack of accuracy in comparison to his XXL contribution? Aggressive and overexcited, he put the Danes through hell with a huge impact on recovery and above all a real ability to project himself through his races. Slicing forward, he was behind his country’s best moves. Replace the 87th minute with Ferjani Sassi (not).
