Born in Greece, Vicky Leandros ended her hit career at the age of 70. But the singer with a German passport is already planning her new life away from the big hit shows.

Vicky Leandros sold 55 million records during her hit career. In the 1960s and 1970s in particular, hits dominated the German charts, with good chart placements earning hit stars like Roland Kaiser and Vicky Leandros a lot of money.

After 20 top hits in the German charts: Vicky Leandros ended her career at the age of 70

With hits like “Apres toi” (After that you came) or “Theo, wir fahr’n nach Lodz” Vicky Leandros managed to place a total of 20 top 20 hits in the German single charts. But now the big hit career should be over, as Vicky Leandros reveals at bild.de: “I think it’s time to stop. I turned 70 this summer. That’s when you start thinking about the finite nature of life. At some point it has to be over.”

The woman, who first appeared on stage at the age of 13, also gives reasons for ending her career as a pop singer: “I want to stop on my own terms and definitely not go on stage with a walking stick.” For the mother of three, twiddling her thumbs at home is out of the question. She says: “I love the live.”

New future plans for hit star Vicky Leandros after the end of his career at the age of 70

Leandros will play her big farewell tour in 2023, including in Cologne (October 9th, 2023, Berlin (October 15th, 2023) or Dresden (October 23rd, 2020). 58 years after her first single was released, it should be over. After her hit career, the native Greek changes her job: she is currently building a hotel in Athens: “A big challenge.” She is also working on a second cookbook and plans to write her biography.

So the 70-year-old swaps the hit stage with the hotel reception. During the corona pandemic, the twice-married woman had clear thoughts about how to continue after her career. “My view of the future is thoroughly positive. That’s why my farewell tour is also called ‘I love life’. There is so much beauty and encouragement in the title.”

Colleague Anna-Carina Woitschack (30) also needs new courage. After only two years of marriage, the pop singer separated from husband Stefan Mross (46). Now “Beyond Eden” star Nino de Angelo expresses himself at Ippen Media and gives a reason for separation – with a quote.
