Felix Schiffner, master brewer and beer sommelier vice world champion, was a guest on “Vorarlberg LIVE” on Monday.
At the 7th world championship for beer sommeliers in Munich, the reigning state champion secured himself the vice world championship title – just like in 2017. 82 beer sommeliers from 18 nations showed their comprehensive skills as beer enjoyment experts. In the final of the top nine, the master brewer from the Bludenz brewery Fohrenburg was only beaten by the Swiss Giuliano Genoni.
At the seventh world championship for beer sommeliers in Munich, the reigning state champion Felix Schiffner secured the runner-up title. A total of 82 beer sommeliers from 18 nations showed their comprehensive skills as beer enjoyment experts. In the final, the master brewer from the Bludenz brewery Fohrenburg only had to admit defeat to the Swiss Giuliano Genoni.
Schiffner was practically born with a passion for beer. His parents run a small family business and specialize in beer. “Meanwhile, 150 beer specialties are offered in the bar, so I got to know a great variety,” says Schiffner on Monday evening at Vorarlberg LIVE. Incidentally, no master brewer training is required for the beer sommelier training. “You get to know all areas of beer well: how it is made, what raw materials you need and what foods go well with it,” Schiffner provides an insight. According to his own statements, the 30-year-old has already tested several hundred different varieties. “It is important to know the classics, but also to test new varieties and train the beer palate.”
