The 43-year-old man was killed “as part of a tax audit” announced the Minister of Action and Public Accounts Gabriel Attal on Monday evening.
“A terrible tragedy occurred today,” said Gabriel Attal on Monday evening before the Senate. The Minister of Action and Public Accounts announced that a head of the audit brigade of the Departmental Directorate of Public Finances of Pas-de-Calais was killed on Monday “as part of this tax audit”.
The 43-year-old agent was accompanied by a fellow auditor in the town of Bullecourt. She, too, was assaulted. “She is fortunately alive but deeply shocked,” said the minister.
Before asking for a moment of contemplation in the Senate, Gabriel Attal concluded: “This unspeakable drama comes to tear the lives of his loved ones, his family […] All public finance officers are upset tonight. I also want to think about them and I will be with them tomorrow morning.”
