Abuse in the camp: 74-year-old in court

Abuse allegations against 74-year-old former holiday camp operator

The Feldkirch public prosecutor’s office has filed charges against a 74-year-old Viennese man who has organized holiday camps in Styria, Tyrol and Vorarlberg for decades and is said to have sexually abused a then nine-year-old boy at one of these camps in Tyrol in 2009.

The man has to answer to a lay judge in Innsbruck on October 19, confirmed Andreas Stutter, vice president of the regional court in Innsbruck, a report in the “Salzburger Nachrichten”.

sexual acts

The blameless accused, father of an adult son, vehemently denies the crime. He is also accused of having abused his duty of supervision as camp manager to perform sexual acts on the child. During the investigation, according to “SN”, he stated that he had never raped, abused or taken any other action that violated a person’s sexual integrity.

The now 22-year-old victim described the incident in detail and conclusively to investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office and “left an extremely credible overall impression,” quoted the “SN” from the indictment. The alleged victim said he ran out of the defendant’s tent into the woods and hid there until other children found the boy and took him back to the camp. However, out of fear and shame, he did not tell anyone what had happened.
