The American television channel, which has been broadcasting the famous animated series since 2013, has announced that it is ending all collaboration with director Justin Roiland following his accusations.

American television channel Adult Swim ends its collaboration with Justin Roiland, co-creator and star of the series rick and morty, accused of domestic violence. As reported The Hollywood Reporterthe director was charged in mid-January for acts of violence that occurred in January 2020 against a woman he was dating at the time.

He is the subject of two counts, for domestic assault with bodily harm and false imprisonment by threat, violence, fraud and/or deception.

“Adult Swim has terminated its collaboration with Justin Roiland,” Marie Moore, communications director for the platform that has been broadcasting Rick and Morty since 2013, said on Tuesday.

If he pleaded not guilty in October 2020, Justin Roiland appeared in court two weeks ago for a preliminary hearing. The trial date has not yet been set. He is expected for a new preliminary hearing on April 27.

Broadcast maintained

Justin Roiland made a name for himself thanks to the animated series rick and morty from Adult Swim, which he co-created with Dan Harmon and in which he also lends his voice to the main characters, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith.

Broadcast since 2015 in France, rick and morty chronicles the misadventures of Rick, a cynical scientist, and his easily influenced grandson, Morty. The sixth season ended in December 2022.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the departure of Justin Roiland should not have an impact on the broadcast of the series. The director’s voice will be replaced for the dubbing but he will still be credited as co-creator of the program.
