Leipzig – When Kim Fisher and Jörg Kachelmann invite you to the riverboat talk, the stars come. On June 17, among others, Kai Ebel, Maxi Biewer and Andy Borg (here all Schlager news on the topic page) were there. Among other things, the pop singer chatted about his beginnings with “The Great Chance” (a kind of Ösi-DSDS) and his actual first name.

Andy Borg in the MDR Riverboat: Schlagerstar talks about his beginnings

Andy Borg (everything about the hit star) had his first appearance in 1982 in the Austrian singing show “The Great Chance”. At that time his name was still Adi Meyer. Because what many may not even know: Andy Borg is not called Andy Borg at all. His real name is actually Adolf Andreas Meyer.

One can imagine that as an Austrian after 1945 it is not exactly an advantage to be called Adolf – hence the abbreviation Adi. Jörg Kachelmann seems very interested in the first name of the pop singer and asks again: “Did your parents ever explain why…”. “No,” Andy Borg (The stage names of the big hit stars and their real names) cuts off the question right away, but then rambles around in embarrassment.

Adolf “was a mistake”: Andy Borg reveals – parents’ real name is uncomfortable

“They don’t like to talk about it because it was a mistake,” Andy Borg replies, looking down. an accident? How do you accidentally name a child Adolf? “Out of a situation. My grandfather and back and forth“, adds the pop singer and remains vague. Jörg Kachelmann feels that the topic is uncomfortable for the hit star and quickly changes the subject.

But what can he laugh about? his height. Again and again Andy Borg makes self-ironic jokes and even Schlager colleague Stefan Mross can’t resist a few side swipes among good friends. At the start of the 18th “Always Sundays” season, there was a lot of laughter about the Viennese. Sources used: MDR/Riverboat
