According to a press release from the Algerian Red Crescent, 180 tons of various food products will be provided to Cuba, specifying that this donation will be sent to this friendly country today, Sunday January 29, 2023.

The Red Crescent specifies that the operation takes place in application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and under the supervision of the President of the Algerian Red Crescent, Ibtissem Hamlaoui, also specifying that the initiative aims to provide assistance to the Cuban people. which is going through difficult times, following the considerable damage caused, at the end of last December, by the passage of a violent hurricane classified category 3 by meteorological specialists.

Thus, Algeria seeks to strengthen its ties with Cuba, which has always stood alongside the Algerian people during the war of national liberation, but also after the independence of Algeria.

The Cuban president received by Tebboune last November

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune had received the President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, on November 17, who was on an official visit to Algeria.

The two presidents met, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramtane Lamamara, the Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Abdelaziz Khellaf, and the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab.

Following this meeting, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Cuban counterpart held a press conference, during which the Head of State declared the decision to cancel all the advantages of Cuba’s indebtedness and to postpone the repayment of debt to relieve her economically.

Tebboune also said that Algeria will donate a solar power plant to Cuba, and that it will refuel it. In addition, it was agreed to create a number of joint ventures between the two countries. To conclude, the President of the Republic also announced that the two countries have agreed to manufacture drugs together.
