It is a surprising story of an employee of CHU Mustapha Bacha in Algiers; who stole baby infants from the hospital maternity ward to sell them overseas.
Last Monday, the investigating judge of the court of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) ordered the provisional detention of a thirty-something in the prison of Koléa de Tipaza. The defendant is indeed accused of stealing newborns in order to sell them in Tunisia.
After an investigation initiated by the general prosecutor’s office, it turned out that the accused worked at the Mustapha Bacha hospital. According to the first elements of the investigation, the accused trafficked babies intended for sale with the involvement of other employees of the same establishment.
After a long hearing with the alleged baby thief, the court judge Sidi M’hamed ordered his placement under committal with the continuation of the in-depth investigation.
