Did you know that Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Super Smash Bros series and Kirby, among others, has his own YouTube channel? Sakurai regularly uploads new videos about game development here. In his latest video is about the difficulty system of the 3DS title Kid Icarus: Uprising from 2012.
Is Kid Icarus: Uprising coming to the Nintendo Switch?
The title was generally quite popular with gamers, but things have been pretty quiet around the series since release. Sakurai himself thinks that’s a pity, because after explaining the system in full, he added: “It sure would be nice, Kid Icarus: Uprising (buy now )to play on a home console. I wonder if anyone will ever port it?”
Interestingly, a fairly prominent Nintendo leaker claimed in July this year that a remaster of Kid Icarus: Uprising for Nintendo Switch was in development at Bandai Namco. Among other things, the remaster should bring more accessible controls and “much needed” improvements to the graphics.
Although Kid Icarus is a fairly old franchise by now, Uprising was only the third installment in the series. The original Kid Jcarus was released in 1986, followed by Of Myth and Monsters in 1991. It was a long time later that it was followed up with 2012’s Uprising. Fans of the series would therefore certainly be happy about a remaster, if not a brand new game.
