Shocking image. This is how the vehicle was violently rammed/the day

Traffic in La Plata so far in 2023 comes with alarming figures. It is that during January there were unfortunately already 12 victims in the provincial capital due to road incidents, according to police sources and data collected by this newspaper.

As EL DIA has been reporting, accidents do not give respite and accidents of all kinds are reported daily on the streets and routes of the Region.

In this context, yesterday Highway 2 was once again the scene of another accident on the verge of tragedy.

For reasons that are under investigation and are trying to be clarified, a truck rammed a Chevrolet Corsa vehicle that was stopped at the side of the road, -according to what they indicated- due to several mechanical damages.

After the strong impact, it dragged it for several meters until both vehicles ended up being slowed down by several trees in a neighboring field.

It happened yesterday morning at kilometer 80, before Samborombón, when at that time a dense fog covered the outskirts of the Region.

According to police sources, at the time of impact the driver and his companion were in the car, who were miraculously saved, although they remain hospitalized.

In this sense, police officers and an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAME) went to the scene after a call to 911 that warned of the incident.

The paramedics decided to transfer the injured to the Dr. Alejandro Korn de Melchor Romero Hospital, one of them admitted to intensive care in a delicate state.

The actions were carried out by agents of the 15th Olmos Police Station.

It should be remembered that 48 hours ago there was also a serious accident on Route 2, at kilometer 61, which ended with an injured motorcyclist. The victim in this case collided with the back of a bus that was carrying tourists.

Also last Wednesday another road incident involved two vehicles on Route 2 km 367, at the height of Vivoratá in the direction of Mar del Plata. In principle, no serious injuries were recorded, but they were referred to the hospital.

figures in red

If one projects the acceleration of tragic events due to traffic accidents in the Region, it is highly probable that the total number of victims could exceed the records for the year 2022, which closed at 71, that is, one death every 123 hours.

Since January 1, 2023, that figure has been dramatically reduced: on average, one death is occurring every 43 hours. This sad statistic does nothing more than show that recklessness at the wheel has long planted a flag when it comes to vehicular traffic.
