The IS had already described itself as the perpetrator of an attack in a Shiite residential area in Kabul, in which several people died on Friday. The police had put the number of dead here at at least eight and the number of injured at 18.

IS had said 20 people had been killed or injured. A security officer for the Taliban, who have been in power for a year, had spoken of more than 50 dead and injured. The radical Islamic Taliban, who belong to the Sunnis, are committed to protecting the Shiites. (dpa)
