After equalizing 1-1 in the 90 minutes of regulation, Argentinos Juniors beat Estudiantes 4-3 on penalties, at the Jorge Luis Hirschi stadium, and qualified for the semifinals of the Professional League Cup, where they will face the winner of the duel between River and Tigre.
The first half was difficult and there were few goal situations, although the visiting team had more of the ball and showed greater intensity when attacking.
However, Estudiantes was in charge of opening the scoring after 32 minutes of the first stage. Leonardo Godoy sent a lateral from the right that rejected the Argentinos defense, but Fernando Zuqui captured the rebound on the edge of the area and assisted Mauro Boselli, who made it 1-0.
In the second half, Estudiantes seemed to gain a greater advantage, since, at 11 minutes, “Bicho” was left with 10 players due to the expulsion of Matías Alejandro Galarza, who received the second yellow card after an infraction against Manuel Castro.
Despite having one more player, “Pincha” suffered somewhat against. After a corner kick, Fausto Vera scored the 1-1 volley.
