Attack in front of the Guaymas Mayor’s Office leaves 3 dead

Three dead left an armed attack outside the Guaymas Municipal Palace, located in the southwestern region of Sonora, confirmed the State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE).

“Armed aggression in #Municipal Palace of #Guaymas. Personnel from the #Sonora Prosecutor’s Office and corporations from the three orders of #Government attend to #CodeRojo,” the ministerial institution reported.

“Three people are reported dead, two men and one woman.”

According to preliminary ministerial reports, the dead are the bodyguard of Mayor Karla Córdova González (Morena), an attacker and a woman, who so far has not been identified.

The deceased woman is presumed to be a member of a feminist collective, according to local reports.

Since 5:00 p.m. this Thursday, the Municipal Palace was taken over by members of the Feministas del Mar collective, who so far have not confirmed any deaths of their members.

The Ministry of Public Security (SSP) reported an operation in the vicinity of the Palace of this coastal city, in coordination with the National Guard, Municipal Police, Navy and Prosecutor’s Office.

Mayor Karla Córdova González took a protest just last September 16, along with 71 other mayors.
