Batakis appointed his team and held the first economic cabinet meeting

The Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis, headed her first cabinet meeting, after making official the names of the team of collaborators that will accompany her at the head of her management at the Palacio de Hacienda.

The economic cabinet that will work together with Batakis will be made up of the Secretary for Economic Policy, Karina Angeletti (vice minister); the Secretary of the Treasury, Martín Di Bella; the Secretary of Domestic Trade, Martín Pollera; and the Secretary of Finance, Eduardo Setti.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Energy will continue to be headed by Darío Martínez and Sergio Chodos will continue to be executive director for the Southern Cone before the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In addition, Juan Manuel Pignocco will be the head of the Ministry’s Cabinet of Advisors; the Secretariat for International Economic and Financial Affairs will be headed by Ramiro Ordoqui; and the Legal and Administrative Secretariat will be commanded by José Ballesteros.

Angeletti and Pollara accompanied Batakis in the Secretary of Provinces of the Ministry of the Interior, the position he held until last Sunday when President Alberto Fernández offered him to be in charge of the Palacio de Hacienda in replacement of Martín Guzmán.

Angeletti, an economist graduated from the National University of La Plata (UNLP), where she is also a professor, served until last week as executive coordinator of the Federal Trust Fund for Regional Infrastructure of the portfolio led by Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro.

She was also director of Statistics in the province of Buenos Aires and head of advisers to the Undersecretary for Economic Coordination between 2013 and 2014, during Daniel Scioli’s administration.

Di Bella, who will be in charge of the Ministry of Finance, has a degree in Economics from the National University of La Plata, was in charge of the Collection Agency of the Province of Buenos Aires (ARBA) also during the Scioli administration and since October 2021, he was in charge of the Administrative Secretariat of the Buenos Aires Senate, a position he accepted when Roberto Feletti became head of the Internal Trade Secretariat.

In addition, Di Bella was undersecretary of Finance and provincial director of Development Programs of the Coordinating Unit of International Organizations (UCO).

Other positions he held were those of director of Economic Analysis of the Provincial Directorate of Economic Studies, and coordinator of the Provincial Information System of the National Ministry of Economy.

Pollera, who will be in charge of the Internal Trade Secretariat, is an economist graduated from the National University of La Plata, as are Minister Batakis and Secretaries Angeletti and Di Bella.

Until last week, Pollera served as undersecretary for Policies for Development with Regional Equity of the Ministry of the Interior of the Nation, as part of the team of then-secretary Batakis.

Between 2016 and 2019, he served as Secretary of Industry and Productive Development of the Municipality of Florencio Varela.

Pollera is a regular professor at the Arturo Jauretche National University and during Batakis’s tenure as Minister of Economy of the Province of Buenos Aires, he was also part of his team, serving as Provincial Director of Development Programs.

Previously, in 2004 he was coordinator of the Provincial Statistics Directorate during the government of Felipe Solá.

Eduardo Setti, the new Secretary of Finance, was in charge of 2020 of the Directorate of Operations of the Anses Sustainability Guarantee Fund (FGS).

He also worked in the agency’s audit and was Director of Investments at FGS.
