Battlefield 2042: Head of Design Fawzi Mesmar has left DICE

A few days after the launch of Battlefield 2042, head of design Fawzi Mesmar has announced that he will be leaving DICE, his last day of work in the studio will be November 26th.

The news was first revealed by VGC and then confirmed by DICE, Fawzi Mesmar sent an email to greet colleagues, thanking everyone for their support and revealing that they received a huge offer from a European studio. The news was kept confidential so as not to distract attention from the project and only now has it become public, complete with confirmation from Electronic Arts wishing Mesmar the best for his personal and professional future.

Fawzi Mesmar, former head of King (company now owned by Activision Blizzard) served as head of design for Battlefield e Star Wars Battlefront coordinating a team of over 80 creatives including graphic designers, game designers and artists. DICE has not yet announced plans for Mesmar’s successor but the former head of design says a successor has already been designated and will be revealed when DICE and Electronic Arts deem it appropriate.

Mesmar’s farewell does not seem in any way related to the lukewarm reception received by Battlefield 2042 at launch and the decision was made prior to the game’s launch.
