After the Biontech vaccine for children has been approved by the EMA, the first booking dates are available in Vorarlberg.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has approved the CoV vaccine from Biontech and Pfizer for children aged five and over. Vorarlberg is well prepared for this, state governor Markus Wallner and regional councilor Martina Rüscher inform: “Registrations are now available at www.vorarlberg.at/vorarlbergimpft possible. “Vaccination takes place in the vaccination centers in Dornbirn and Nenzing, the first appointments take place on Friday afternoon (November 26th) – there are three weeks between the first and second vaccination.

The available vaccination data clearly show that the vaccination coverage has to be increased significantly, especially in the younger age groups. In this context, Regional Councilor Rüscher refers to the above-average number of cases in this age group: “In Vorarlberg, around 17 percent of the population is up to 15 years old. However, around 33 percent of all new cases currently come from this age group. Serious disease courses and long covid symptoms are rarely seen in percentage terms in children, but when the total number of diseases increases, this number also increases and each case is one too many. ”

Already 500 reservations

Around 30,000 children between the ages of five and eleven live in Vorarlberg. So far, around 500 children have registered for the vaccination and are now invited to the vaccination. These are offered in the vaccination centers in Dornbirn and Nenzing.

For all those willing to be vaccinated, it is still advisable to register in advance in order to avoid long waiting times. Appointment bookings are under www.vorarlberg.at/vorarlbergimpft possible. Information about vaccination is also available there, and also at www.1450-vorarlberg.at as www.rund-ums-impfen.at.
