Christian Pulisic is the big star in the national team, no other player in the US team has an estimated market value of 38 million euros. The 24-year-old is also leading the way on the pitch, assisting Timothy Weah in the World Cup opener against Wales on Monday.

At Chelsea, on the other hand, Pulisic does not go beyond the role of a supplementary player. In the current Premier League season, he has played just 414 minutes, and he played his only full-length competitive game in the League Cup against Manchester City.
In the meantime, there are more and more voices that Pulisic should try his luck elsewhere. “In the long term, he has to play in a team where he gets more playing time,” ex-US international Eric Wynalda advised him recently. “Pulisic should go to a smaller club than Chelsea,” agrees Premiere League expert Jamie Carragher.
After three and a half seasons in London, Chelsea have probably buried their hopes in the 24-year-old. After the turn of the year, the consortium of owners around Todd Boehly apparently wants to exchange ideas with interested parties and listen to trade-off offers. Pulisic still has a contract with the “Blues” until the end of the 2023/24 season.
According to transfer expert Ekrem Konur, three well-known clubs have already expressed interest: In addition to Inter Milan and Juventus Turin, his training club Borussia Dortmund should also be working on a commitment.

With the BVB youth teams, Pulisic had won both the B-Junior (2015) and the A-Junior championship (2016). After his promotion to the first team, the right winger was considered one of the rising stars in the Bundesliga, and he immediately won the DFB Cup in his first year.
At the age of 21 he then moved to Chelsea for a whopping 64 million euros. After three and a half years with limited sporting development, however, a return campaign should be cheaper.
“We will do our homework and act if necessary.”

Is that why Dortmund are getting Pulisic in the winter? At the general meeting last weekend, BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl did not categorically rule out newcomers, saying: “We will do our homework and act if necessary.”
Those responsible in Dortmund generally have experience with returning former players. For example, BVB has already brought Shinji Kagawa, Nuri Sahin and Mario Götze back to Dortmund for a second time – albeit mostly with moderate success.
Germany’s first World Cup group match against Japan (1:2) took place on Wednesday. Before the game there were heated discussions about the ‘One Love’ armband being banned by Fifa. Manuel Neuer was the captain of the German national team without the symbolic armband.
