Mexico City.- Jin, the oldest member of South Korean boy group BTS, will enlist for his military service starting next month.
Korean media reported that the BTS singer will be the first of the members to fulfill his military duties. This news comes after the confirmation that the group would not be exempt from military service as required by the law of their country.
The NME portal reported that Jin, 29, will be the first to enlist. For its part, the KBS News outlet announced that anonymous sources from the Korean army informed them that the k-pop idol will begin his military duties as of December 13.
Korean media also revealed that Jin will be sent to a recruit training center in Yeoncheon before being transferred to an army unit.
After the news was revealed, Jin took to the fan social network Weverse, where he confirmed the facts and asked his followers to keep their distance and avoid going to the training center.
“Although I didn’t want the article published, ARMY (BTS fanbase) should not come to the training center. There will be other people besides me, and it can be dangerous if the place is overcrowded. ARMY, I love you,” he wrote. Jin, according to NME.
Before being sent to his military service, Jin made his solo debut with the song “The Astronaut”, a song he co-wrote with Coldplay.
