When clubs from the Premier League come knocking, every German club apart from Bayern Munich faces trouble. The English league is the financially strongest in the world and is therefore an attractive goal for many footballers. Even Borussia Dortmund, who probably have the strongest international reputation after FCB in this country, is not immune to the appeal of the Premier League.
Only in the last transfer period in the summer did Borussia lose two top performers in Erling Haaland and Manuel Akanji to Premier League champions Manchester City. And in previous years, BVB had to let absolute team pillars move to the island in Jadon Sancho, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic.
Now another top performer from Dortmund is being linked with a move to the Premier League.

According to the French portal “Jeunesfooteux” is left-back Raphael Guerreiro. The 28-year-old is said to have been targeted by West Ham United, among others.
After a weak start to the season, the Hammers are ready to invest in the squad in various places, writes the French portal. The left-back position, in which 32-year-old Brit Aaron Creswell is currently almost without alternative, is said to have identified the club management and coach David Moyes as in need of improvement.
In addition to West Ham, Leeds United, the club of ex-Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch, are also said to be interested in Guerreiro. Things aren’t going well for the Peacocks either: the traditional club is only 15th in the table. Marsch currently has to improvise on the left back, with the trained central defender Pascal Struijk usually occupying this position.
Dortmund allegedly against winter change
Even if Guerreiro’s contract expires next summer, the BVB bosses should not be ready to let him go in winter. Guerreiro, who is currently preparing for the World Cup in Qatar with Portugal, is a regular player under coach Edin Terzić and should also play a key role for Borussia for the rest of the season.
Guerreiro also identifies strongly with Dortmund. Although he has always been associated with various top international clubs, he has been playing for BVB for six years now.
Only his susceptibility to injury could speak against continued employment from the point of view of the club management. Since 2018 alone, Guerreiro has had to sit out more than 40 games due to injury.
An article about the World Cup Opening Ceremony could go here. Which we consciously avoid. At the start of the tournament, our editor-in-chief explains the decision and explains how we will report in the coming weeks.
In times of a football World Cup, newsrooms are in a state of emergency. Sport then dominates for four weeks. It’s no different in a newsroom than in the living rooms of millions of people. It goes without saying that there is a lot more coverage of football for a month than in the rest of the year. To be more precise: it was until 2022. Because this year everything is different.
