BVB: Terzic sees “it feels like there are lots of newcomers”

In all likelihood, Borussia Dortmund will not be active on the transfer market in winter. Edin Terzic comments to the ‘Ruhr Nachrichten’ as follows: “Of course we’re looking at what’s happening, but I don’t see any major activity on the transfer market for us, not even in Europe as a whole.” Terzic justifies the fact that Dortmund are reluctant to transfer in terms of, among other things, the return of the many long-term injuries.

“So many players are coming back from injuries and are fully available to us again in January. For us they are felt to be nothing but newcomers”, says Terzic. The professionals who are about to make their comeback include captain Marco Reus, youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, midfield strategist Mahmoud Dahoud and all-purpose weapon Marius Wolf. Anthony Modeste is also expected back after surviving groin surgery. Only Sébastien Haller will continue to be absent from the black and yellow indefinitely.

With a view to the summer, and thus indirectly also to the upcoming winter, the 40-year-old, who was born in Menden, explains: “There are a lot of free transfer players next summer, maybe something will move there.” At Borussia, the contracts of captains Reus and Mats Hummels, among others, are expiring. The contracts of Raphaël Guerreiro, Felix Passlack, Dahoud, Modeste and Youssoufa Moukoko also end.

This is how BVB plans

Although Terzic has temporarily put a stop to possible transfer activities, people in the Ruhrpott will also have to wait and see how the upcoming transfer period will develop. After all, winter is the last opportunity for BVB to sell the professionals listed above and generate income.

Borussia firmly expects Dahoud, Hummels, Moukoko and Reus to stay in Dortmund beyond the end of the season. Behind the other personal details, on the other hand, there is a question mark. Guerreiro would like to extend his stay at Dortmund, but the officials are not completely convinced of the Portuguese. However, as of now, Passlack and Modeste have no future in sixth place.

Incidentally, behind the scenes, the black and yellow are very busy with possible reinforcements, at least if you can believe various media reports. With Ramy Bensebaini, Daichi Kamada and Marcus Thuram, Dortmund is said to be targeting three Bundesliga professionals. And Borussia are also likely to be interested in the young Englishmen Tylor Morton and Cody Drameh.
