Catastrophic: every four seconds, a person dies of hunger in the world

As world leaders gather at the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, a group of 238 organizations from 75 countries has something terrible to say: a person dies of hunger every four seconds. Therefore, they ask the leaders of all countries to do something to stop “the world hunger crisis.”

“345 million people suffer hunger acute, a figure that has multiplied by more than two since 2019″, highlights the open letter signed by NGOs, including Oxfam, Save the Children or Action Against Hunger. This problem was also addressed today by the Secretary General of the United Nations, in his speech before the Assembly, when he stressed that more and more people are going hungry, but the entities that signed this letter detailed the magnitude of the disaster.

In the horn of Africa, the drought causes an unprecedented famine.
