The Christmas angels from Dornbirn make wishes for children in Vorarlberg come true for Christmas.
Dornbirn Anticipation is in the air. There is a hustle and bustle in the office of the Christmas Angels these days. Little by little, the children’s wish lists for the six Christmas angels arrive in Dornbirn. Here the Christmas wishes are collected before they are bought in regional shops and lovingly packed by the helpers. “We have just finished preparing the first Christmas packages,” says Sandra Antoniazzi, founder of the private Christmas Angel Association. She has been helping needy children since 2011 and makes them smile with her Christmas presents. You can still send wish lists to her until the end of November.
The time before Christmas has a very special magic for Antoniazzi. “Every child wants something special. For many parents, however, the money is simply not enough to fulfill their children’s wishes, ”says the founder. “We want to bring joy to the children and show the families that we are there for them.” Antoniazzi depends on donations in order to meet the many wishes. “Since we are a private association, we finance our heart project through private sponsors.” Meanwhile, the Christmas angels help all year round and support children who need help.
Satisfaction with own life
It all started with the birth of their first child ten years ago. “I was holding my child in my arms and I was overwhelmed by the happiness we were blessed with.” My husband and I were deeply grateful for this. From this point on it was clear to her that she wanted to pass on a piece of her happiness to other people. The idea for the Christmas angels soon matured.
She hit the bull’s eye with her idea. She has been making wishes for children in need come true for ten years now. All that is needed is a wish list. This can be submitted as a letter or in the form of a drawing. “We want to give the children a harmonious Christmas party, so that the parents can put their worries aside for a little while,” emphasizes Antoniazzi. As a thank you, the donors will receive the drawn up wish lists and photos of the gifts. “We also give donors moments of joy that are often moved to tears.”
Close cooperation with institutions
The Christmas angels work closely with state institutions such as child and youth welfare, the outpatient family service, the Ifs Feldkirch, IfsTalente Feldkirch and Lustenau as well as other private social workers. These tell the angels which child needs help. “Children should be able to believe in their dreams and experience that they will come true.” Every child is great, wonderful and unique. She wants to carry this feeling out and make the world a little more beautiful. Bvs
