Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos (CIAL) of Chile is a company dedicated for more than 50 years to the production of sausages; however, in the month of May there was an error in the payroll payment of one of its employees, where they deposited $165,398,851 in Chilean currency (CLP), that is, approximately 700 million COP.
The CIAL management confirmed to the Diario Financiero of that country that the employee had been paid 286 times more than his salary corresponded, this ranged around $500 thousand CLP, about $2,000,000 for exercising his position as a dispatch assistant.
After this incident, the official told the deputy manager of the distribution center about the exorbitant sum of money that had been deposited and promised to deposit it the next day in the company’s bank account. Similarly, “he was informed and clarified that this money did not correspond to the payment of any service”, as indicated by the accusation presented by the consortium before a judge.
However, this never happened and the last contact the CIAL had with the worker was at 11:00 am the day after the money was supposed to be deposited. On June 2, 2022, through a law firm, the employee voluntarily submitted his resignation.
Given this fact, the Industrial Food Consortium filed an accusation or complaint against its former official before a judge for the crime of misappropriation.
“He thought it was a raise and went on vacation”, “For more mistakes like that” “They will still find him and stop him. And you will have to return everything” “Scoundrel”, these are some of the comments that have been seen on social networks, where the debate on whether or not the worker should return the money to the company was opened again.
