Confirmed: Alessandro Michele no longer Gucci chief designer

The fashion house Gucci has separated from creative director Alessandro Michele. This was announced by the French fashion group Kering, which owns Gucci, last night and thus confirmed the corresponding media reports. The 49-year-old Roman spoke of “different ideas” in the message.

Trade magazine Women’s Wear Daily previously reported that Michele and Kering boss Francois-Henri Pinault had different views on Gucci’s creative future.

Michele has been chief designer at Gucci since January 2015. In the nearly eight years since then, he has been instrumental in helping the brand evolve “with his pioneering creativity while remaining true to the House’s renowned codex,” the statement said. Who follows Michele is still open.
