(DEVELOPING NEWS) Between strong criticism and provocative claims to national sovereignty, teachers, students and staff of the National University of Comahue (UNC) hoisted the Mapuche flag this Tuesday, the “Wenufoye”in different locations that the house of studies has in Río Negro and Neuquén.
The act is part of the celebrations for the Mapuche New Year and was promoted by the Kizu Iñciñ group –made up of teachers, students and staff from the UNC– and different areas of the faculty, and was accompanied by its highest educational authorities.
The Auditor General of the Nation and former candidate for vice president, Miguel Ángel Pichetto, criticized the call and not only considered that “it is a provocation to Argentine sovereignty” but also publicly criticized the initiative.
“I strongly repudiated the actions of the National University of Comahue. They will carry out an “act of political-cultural sovereignty” of a Mapuche country. They will raise the flag with which these groups identify themselves. It is a provocation to the sovereignty of Argentina ”, he published days ago on social networks.
The act took place less than a day after a new terrorist act attributed to the Mapuche Ancestral Resistance (RAM), which set fire to a public office in the province of Chubut this Monday morning.
The Mapuche organization not only took responsibility for the fact, but also left reflected on the flag found that the “Mapuche national reconstruction, for our dead in Ruf Wichan, for the PPM and the persecuted”according to several local media.
Pichetto also condemned this terrorist attack and warned that “They continue to act with total impunity in the face of the inaction of the Justice and the security forces”.
