Coronavirus in Mexico as of October 12: 7,187 new infections and 546 deaths were registered in the last day

The afternoon of this Tuesday, October 12, 2021, the Ministry of Health (SSa) shared the Daily Technical Report on the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the country. In that sense, they confirmed the existence of 3,732,429 confirmed cases accumulated, as well as 282,773 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in Mexico.

According to updated figures, in the last 24 hours 7,187 new people reported the symptomatic picture related to the disease COVID-19 and they tested positive. Similarly, 546 new deaths in the last day.

Regarding confirmed deaths, the authorities reported that in the distribution by sex deaths in men predominate with 62% So what the median age is 64 years. In addition, after having undergone the third wave of infections in the country, the behavior of the graph continues to decline.

It is estimated that as of today there are 39,472 (1%) people who had symptoms related to COVID-19 disease in the last 14 days. Thus, the entities with the highest number of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants are Tabasco, Colima, Mexico City, Guanajuato and Yucatán. While, Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacán, Veracruz and Sinaloa have the lowest rates.

On the third day of epidemiological week number 39, the health authorities reported the existence of 3,949,895 estimated cases. For their part, they are already 3,093,786 patients who have recovered and received medical discharge after having had any symptoms related to the disease.

To this day, 10,946,370 people have been notified to the National Epidemiological Surveillance System. Of the total number of screening tests applied, 6,687,012 have given a negative result. In addition, the number of positives could increase in the coming hours due to the estimated existence of 526,929 total suspected cases.

In the beds of general attention at the national level, the authorities confirmed that the occupation is in the 26 percent, that is, four points below the figure reported the previous day. Until yesterday, no entity presented levels higher than half of its availability. In addition, 10 entities appear on the occupancy list between 30% and 49 percent. Meanwhile, 22 states have rates below 29 percent. The Five entities with the largest number of beds available are Campeche, Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Yucatán and Guerrero.

On the other hand, in beds equipped with ventilation support, that is, for the care of intensive therapy patients, it was confirmed that 25% of the country is being occupied of the places. In this area, no state of the Republic exceeded half the occupation. Only six entities are in the group with occupancy between 30% and 49 percent, while 26 are below 29.9% of occupancy. Baja California Sur, Guerrero, Quintana Roo, Campeche and Chiapas are the states with the highest availability.

According to information from the Ministry of Health, as of October 12 540,197 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were applied. With this, since the beginning of the campaign, 107,921,674 injections of any of the biologics approved by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) to counteract the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
