Council of Ministers: towards the adoption of English from primary school

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, this Sunday, June 19, 2022; a meeting of the Council of Ministers devoted to the examination and debate of the draft organic law relating to associations and the draft supplementary finance law 2022 (PLFC). As well as presentations relating to the revision of educational programs and the school textbook; and preparations for the 60th anniversary of independence, said a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.

Concerning the national education sector; President Tebboune stressed “the need to revise educational programs”; “by strictly prohibiting the revision of the programs during the school seasons”.

According to the same press release, according to an in-depth study by experts and specialists; it was decided “to introduce the teaching of the English language from the primary cycle”.

Always in relation to national education; the President of the Republic mentioned the phenomenon of the heavy weight of school bags; and ordered, to this end, “the immediate launch of a broad consultation with stakeholders in the education sector; to arrive at a unified vision regarding this phenomenon and its immediate adoption”.

The Council of Ministers also approved “the addition of two flights to the State of Qatar; within the framework of the flight program of the national company, Air Algérie”. Thus, the flight schedule is three instead of just one flight per week.
