Colin Murray explained how this week’s episodes were pushed back to the Queen’s funeral on Monday[/caption]

However, the Queen’s funeral on Monday disrupted most stations’ programming and meant Countdown was not aired that day.

Instead, Monday’s episode aired Tuesday and so on, meaning the channel now has to air Friday’s episode on Saturday.

Host Colin Murray explained the disruption to viewers on Twitter on Tuesday, writing, “@C4Countdown is back at 2:10pm!

“@RachelRileyRR @susie_den awesome @DJNoreenKhan in the dictionary corner!

TO DRINK

Countdown fans stunned by Susie Dent’s ‘ageless’ appearance and what’s on her desk

“For obvious reasons, we are out of sync this week, so the Monday show is today, with a bonus show on Saturday!

“It’s confusing, but it will still make sense in any language!”

One Countdown fan wrote: “I know the lineup for C4 and other networks has changed over the past few days but will this be the first time in @C4Countdown history that a new episode will air a Saturday?”

But another replied: “No. During the Des Lynam days in the spring of 2006, Countdown and Deal or No Deal were given an extra slot on Saturdays (for about 8 weeks I think?) due to rising ratings.

“The next Saturday countdown would be to 2019 as Formula 1 live would occupy a Friday.”

A third tweeted: “Yeah this week’s episodes are Tuesday-Saturday due to the funeral yesterday. I wasn’t sure this morning, but I confirmed it. Definitely tomorrow!”

Meanwhile, a fourth shared: “Watching the catch-up saturday show on all 4’s, this is the first saturday show since des o connor hosted the 25th anniversary rehearsal in 2007.”

Countdown airs weekdays at 2.10pm on Channel 4, with Saturday’s episode airing at 2.35pm.
