Covid-19 cases have increased in all regions of Brazil, points out Fiocruz

The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) released this Wednesday (23) a new edition of its newsletter InfoGripe, which showed an increase in serious cases of Covid-19 in states of all regions of Brazil.

The survey is based on the last six weeks and most of those infected are adults over 60 years old. The analysis uses data entered into the Influenza Epidemiological Surveillance Information System (Sivep-Flu) through November 21.

The increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 in Brazil began to be felt in early November and experts point out that the increase in records may be related to contamination by the new subvariant of Ômicron, BQ.1.

Experts also claim that, in addition to the withdrawal of some security protocols, such as the use of masks, the election period and the return to work and face-to-face events may have contributed to the spread of the virus.

According to Anvisa, the approved vaccines were created to reinforce protection against the original strain of the disease, the omicron variant and its subvariants. The measure is also a way of trying to reduce the number of registered cases.
