Covid-19 in Mexico: SSa reports 18,556 new infections and 122 deaths

Mexico added this Thursday 18,556 new Covid-19 infections registered in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health, with which three consecutive days are spun in the reduction of the daily number of confirmed cases of this disease. In addition to the fact that since the end of June, a daily figure of less than 20,000 infections was not registered during the week (Tuesday to Friday).

It should be remembered that the health authorities have explained that generally on weekends and Mondays the daily numbers of cases and deaths are usually lower than the rest of the week because health centers usually take longer to deliver their reports.

The daily technical report on the progress of the epidemic in the country detailed this August 4 that the accumulated number of infections of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 amounted to 6 million 821,746 cases.

Meanwhile, the official number of deaths due to the Covid-19 it increased to 328,128 deaths, after the federal agency reported 122 new deaths.

The health authorities reported that at the national level there are “registered” 125,884 active cases in the period from July 22 to the cut of this August 4. The agency has explained that active cases are considered those people who have tested positive for Covid-19 and presented symptoms in the last 14 days.

In the last five weeks, most of the infections have occurred in people between 18 and 29 years of age, followed by the group of 30 to 39 years and 40 to 49 years, detailed the Ministry of Health.

Among the states with the highest rate of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Mexico City, Baja California Sur and San Luis Potosí stand out.

In its daily statement, the Secretariat recommended that the population maintain basic hygiene measures, such as continuous hand washing, use of face masks, keep a healthy distance and ventilate closed places.
