The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Minjusdh) reported that 43.22% of prisoners across the country already have the fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine (COVID-19). The percentage of inmates with the first three doses is close to 100%.

It’s a statement, the sector detailed that, to date, a coverage of 94.24% has been achieved in the application of the third dose of the vaccine in prisons, while 97.30% of inmates have the second dose. The percentage of the prison population with a dose reaches 98.45%.
The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights He stressed that the progress of vaccination in prisons and the implementation of sanitary measures have allowed that, since October 2021, no deaths from COVID-19 in penitentiary establishments.
He emphasized that this situation is important, since it allows to keep working all the productive workshops, which contribute to the resocialization and social reintegration of the prisoners.
After the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, during this year the Productive Prisons programwithin the framework of which six mega-fairs have been held in Lima, Chiclayo, Arequipa, Tacna, Cajamarca and Satipo, in order to promote the high-quality products produced by the inmates.
In that sense, currently more than 23 thousand people deprived of liberty carry out various work activities in the penitentiary establishments of the country, within the framework of the penitentiary policy promoted by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rightswith special emphasis on resocialization.
More than 11,000 interns are registered in the productive workshops, while another 12,000 people carry out work activities in groups or individually. In addition, the health situation in prisons allows for the sustained resumption of family visits, which were suspended at the worst moments of the health emergency.
