Covid-19: The Order of Physicians calls on the government to expand the recall campaign now

“While access to the third dose of vaccine is gradually being extended”, the Order of Physicians “today calls on the government to accelerate this opening” in a press release.

On the eve of the press conference of the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, who will announce the new measures of the government against the upsurge of Covid-19, the Order of Physicians calls on the executive to expand the vaccine booster campaign “from now”.

“While access to the third dose of vaccine is gradually being expanded,” the Order of Physicians “today calls on the government to accelerate this opening” in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Protect young adults”

“If the criteria of medical fragility are essential, other criteria are important, and in particular those aimed at protecting young adults coming into contact with other people because of their student, professional or social life”, argues the National Council of the Order of Physicians.

This expansion is all the more important “as the end of year holidays approach”. During his press conference detailing the government’s avenues for stemming the pandemic on Wednesday, government spokesman Gabriel Attal assured that the executive’s objective was to “save the end of year celebrations” .

A sufficient number of doses

The Order of Physicians emphasizes that France has a “sufficient number of doses to ensure this large recall” and that “health professionals remain largely mobilized to vaccinate their fellow citizens”. For all these reasons, the organization calls on the State to “allow all people whose vaccination status warrants it to benefit from this recall as soon as possible”.

It also encourages “to reinforce the respect of barrier gestures” and “thanks all the doctors for their continuous commitment”. The government will unveil its decision on Thursday whether or not to expand the booster dose to all, during a press conference by Minister of Health Olivier Véran.
