Cuervo Larroque against Alberto Fernández: "It was a waste of time and a waste of power"

The Minister of Development of the Buenos Aires Community, Andrés “Cuervo” Larroque, once again criticized President Alberto Fernández calling his presidency “a waste of time and a waste of power.”

Speaking to LN+, Larroque questioned the management of the Frente de Todos: “Compared to the expectations that had been generated about 2019, not a positive feeling“.

“This has to do with the very political position generated by the President. I think there was a waste of time, and unfortunately a waste of power as well,” warned the general secretary of La Cámpora.

“There was no correct use of that electoral capacity that was generated at the time, including that the President revalidated at the time of the pandemic,” he added.

“Surely different areas must have policies to claim. But the general balance marks a distance from the initial expectation, understanding that there was a pandemic and a war,” Larroque clarified.

“Power must be exercised and perhaps there is a misconception regarding how to manage it. And that generated political weakness. To face the characteristics of economic power in Argentina, in such a complex situation at the international level, it was a waste that today is verified in the loss of power of the State in general,” said Cuervo Larroque.

Likewise, he targeted the inner circle of Alberto Fernández: “There are environments that are thinking about how to negotiate the ‘time after’, on how to keep a parcel of power and perhaps support this idea. The responsibility lies with the President, then you choose who you want to listen to and sometimes you use those environments. But you realize who brings you rotten fish or who flatters just to get a slice of power to manage.”

Larroque also asked that a political table of the Frente de Todos be used to make internal decisions: “There’s no explanation why it didn’t work that way from the start.”

For Larroque, after the defeat in PASO 2019 “the relationship began to deteriorate” Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner. However, he opined that the internal situation “was worsened by the image of popularity of the pandemic” of Alberto Fernández, which gave him “the idea that he could do without Cristina.”

“That intoxicated the entire environment and disrupted the characterization of reality. Ignoring Cristina is clumsy and obviously impossible. As a result, the process could never be put on track,” said Larroque.

On the other hand, he also pointed out that Cristina Kirchner “He is taking charge of the situation and is also committed to the present and fundamentally to the future”.

“It is not clear how, but she is committed to building a way out of this complex situation. Nobody has to look at Cristina as the savior. She is suggesting that this is much more complex. There is a need for deep agreements,” Larroque concluded.
