CD Projekt Red has managed to reach the height of popularity on Steam with Cyberpunk 2077 for the second time. With approximately 80,000 concurrent players on the gaming platform right now, Cyberpunk 2077 is seeing its second peak in viewership. The reason for this is the release of the anime based on the game, Cyberpunk: Expendables (Edgerunners), which was released on Netflix on September 13, 2022 (check out our review here).
The anime Cyberpunk: Expendables not only drew attention because of the popularity of Cyberpunk 2077, but also because of the technical quality of the series. Its plot and the way the characters were developed end up creating a dynamic in the story that shocks, attracts and leads to wanting to know more and more about the presented universe.
Thank you so much chooms for this second chance 😭 https://t.co/IONdDq8D9x

Cyberpunk 2077 gets huge audience on Steam thanks to its anime on Netflix
It’s not the first time that a CD Projekt Red game has achieved a new audience spike on Steam. In 2019, after The Witcher debuted on Netflix, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt temporarily gained greater popularity in the market. It is important to note that the game studio title was originally released in 2015 and ended up reaching its second best moment due to the production of the Netflix movie and series streaming platform.
Cyberpunk 2077 has had substantial fixes in the latest updates (1.5 and 1.6). These errors came to considerably disrupt the players’ experience during the game’s launch. Developers recently released modding tools and announced Phantom Liberty, the first major expansion, planned for 2023.
