In a joint meeting, the Industry committees; Budget and Treasury; Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, issued an opinion on the draft Law for the Promotion of the Development and Production of Modern Biotechnology and Nanotechnology.
In this regard, the deputy of the UCR and head of the Science, Technology and Productive Innovation Commission, Facundo Manes, explained that, in addition to the promotion of the development and production of Bio and Nanotechnology, “this Law speaks of two things: first, the role of science as the engine of development in Argentina and second, about consensus”. “We have achieved a consensus that is very necessary for the times we live in and the divisions we have,” he said.
For her part, the deputy of the Frente de Todos, Mary Brawer, considered: “We committed ourselves to the Chamber of Bio and Nanotechnology industries to continue working to facilitate all the processes in relation to imports and all the obstacles that these companies have, understanding that the development in Bio and Nanotechnology is strategic for our country. “.
The opinion reached by the legislators expands the scope of the nanotechnology law and extends its validity for 12 years. The current law expires in July 2022, with these changes it would expire on December 31, 2034.
