CDMX.- Pixar’s new movie ‘Lightyear’ has been censored in fourteen Muslim countries for a lesbian kiss.
Also, in other parts of the world several people have criticized Disney for including that scene in a children’s movie.
Despite the fact that the creators warned them that there could be controversy, the option of changing the script was never in their plans.
“We were warned it could happen,” acknowledged “Lightyear” producer Galyn Susman. “But we weren’t going to trade the movie we wanted for just a handful of countries with retrograde views, to put it mildly,” he said.
Thus, Disney remains firm in its strategy of giving its characters more diversity.
And they already announced that there will be an openly gay character in their next movie.
This is ‘A Strange World’, a film directed by Don Hall, which will hit theaters at the end of November. It is about a family of explorers and one of the members is homosexual.
The film’s designer, Matthieu Saghezchi, explained on his Twitter account that Ethan Clade, son of the protagonist, will experience an “openly gay romance” with another boy.
Saghezchi commented that Ethan gets very nervous when he is in front of his crush and in one scene Ethan’s father tells the boy that his son “doesn’t stop talking about him”.
It is worth mentioning that ‘A Strange World’ is inspired by works by Jules Verne and HG Wells.
