After almost three months, the Bundesliga will start its 60th season this coming weekend. Eintracht Frankfurt welcomes champions Bayern Munich (Friday, 8:30 p.m.). Before the opening game, Frankfurt President Peter Fischer joked about Munich’s new top striker, Sadio Mané.
In an interview with “RTL” Fischer was asked about the 32 million new signing from Bayern – his answer: “Who the fuck is Mané?” Fischer laughed and hopes that the Senegalese will not pose too much of a threat. Even with a Robert Lewandowski, Frankfurt would have “always done relatively well,” said Fischer.
FC Bayern not only has a “magician’s apprentice”
The problem that Frankfurt faces, according to Fischer: Munich not only have Mané as a “magician’s apprentice” in attack, otherwise it would even be easy. “When I think about it: Leroy Sané sat on the bench at the beginning. He wouldn’t sit on the bench at any other Bundesliga club,” says Fischer about Bayern’s starting line-up in the Supercup against Leipzig (5: 3).
The quality of the Munich team despite Lewandowski’s departure is impressive for Fischer: “We also know that Mané is someone who knows where the goal is, that he knows it a bit better than one or the other.” However, the president of the Europa League winner has confidence in his defense, but also respect for the Munich offensive:
“So we’re not just shaking because of Mané.”

He also praised FC Bayern’s performance and spoke of their power, speed, midfield and defense. In general, the people of Munich are simply a “damn good team”. However, Fischer then added: “I know our boys are also quite good.”. He trusts the defenders Tuta and Touré to stand up to Mané and Bayern.
World stars are no guarantee of success
He also remembers last season’s Europa League quarterfinals against Barcelona. In the run-up he read about the top stars of the Spaniards in the newspapers again and again. In the end, however, the Frankfurt defense had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Co. fully under control. Even substitutes like Ousmane Dembélé could not have done anything. The President of Eintracht Frankfurt draws from this that a surprise is possible even against big clubs.

The rumors about Saša Kalajdžić don’t stop: His name came up when world footballer Robert Lewandowski turned his back on Bayern and before BVB presented new signing Sébastien Haller. Most recently, the name Kalajdžić was even quoted by the “Manchester Evening News”: At United he is said to be a candidate to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo, who is willing to emigrate.
