Excluded from the test obligation – first vaccinated, then recovered: where you are now considered boosted – and where not

Excluded from the test obligation: First vaccinated, then recovered: Where you are now considered boosted – and where not

In many federal states, people are exempted from the obligation to test with 2G-Plus after their booster vaccination. But does that also apply to vaccinated people who later become infected with the virus? FOCUS Online says which rules apply to you.

According to the new rules of the federal-state decision, anyone who has been boosted no longer has to be in quarantine in many federal states. Even with the 2G-Plus rule, those who have been boosted are usually exempt from the test obligation.

But who is actually considered boosted in Germany? Do you always need three vaccinations? No – a look at the federal states shows that. FOCUS Online provides an overview of the regions in which you also belong to this group with two vaccinations and a previous infection.

Where you are now considered boosted – or not:

Baden-Wuerttemberg

In Baden-Württemberg, in addition to people with a booster vaccination, people whose basic immunization or recovery was no more than three months ago are exempt from the additional test obligation with 2G-Plus. After that, however, those who have recovered must be vaccinated a third time in order to remain exempt from the test requirement.

Bayern

  • Exception to the test requirement for 2G-Plus: Yes

It’s not just people with the booster shot who get into Bayern exempted from the test obligation at 2G. According to the state government, this also includes people who have survived an infection after being fully immunized, as well as people who have already been vaccinated twice after their recovery. Health Minister Klaus Holetschek refers to a study by the virologists Ulrike Protzer and Oliver T. Keppler, which makes it clear that every infection can be evaluated like a vaccination „BR“ reported.

The state government does not specify how long this statute will apply. Excluded from the exemption are medical and nursing facilities such as hospitals, senior citizens’ or nursing homes.

Berlin

  • Exception to the test requirement for 2G-Plus: No

In Berlin only people with the booster vaccination are exempt from the test obligation. With 2G-Plus, those who have recovered must present a daily updated test despite double vaccination.

Brandenburg

Also in Brandenburg only people with a booster vaccination are exempt from the test obligation.

Bremen:

  • Exception to the test requirement for 2G-Plus: Yes

In Bremen On the one hand, persons whose second vaccination was not more than three months ago, or who have already received a booster vaccination, are exempt from the test obligation with 2G-Plus. And on the other hand: Even those who have recovered and who can prove a corona infection within the past three months do not have to be tested during this period.

Hamburg

  • Exception to the test requirement for 2G-Plus: Yes

Also in Hamburg an infection that has survived after the vaccination is considered to be a booster vaccination. “Anyone who is infected and recovered after a complete series of vaccinations has an increased level of protection comparable to that of a booster vaccination,” writes the Hamburg Senate.

The proof of a complete vaccination is therefore valid together with a proof of convalescence issued afterwards like a booster vaccination. So far, as with those who have recovered without previous vaccination, this has only applied for a maximum of six months. However, the RKI rule that came into force on Saturday stipulates that those who have recovered will only keep this status for three months from now on.

FOCUS Online supports the vaccination appeal in which over 2000 companies have participated and have changed their logo to a vaccination appeal. Well-founded information – also against the background of the rapidly spreading omicron virus variant – should increase people’s willingness to be vaccinated.

North Rhine-Westphalia:

  • Exception to the test requirement for 2G-Plus: Yes

The additional test requirement for 2G Plus is also omitted in North Rhine-Westphalia “For persons who have an effective booster vaccination or who are within the last three months an infection was detected by a PCR test, although they had previously been fully immunized”. This is determined by the new Corona Protection Ordinance, which has been in force there since January 13th.

Rhineland-Palatinate:

  • Exception to the test requirement for 2G-Plus: Yes

Also in Rhineland-Palatinate there is an exception for recovered vaccinated people. “People who have recently – i.e. less than three months ago – been vaccinated twice or who have recovered or who have recovered after a double vaccination are also exempt from the test requirement under the 2G-Plus regulation,” explained Prime Minister Malu Dreyer on Tuesday.

  • Exception to the test requirement for 2G-Plus: No

Health ministers want to introduce uniform rules

Exempting certain groups of people from the 2G Plus regulation was already a topic during previous federal and state conferences in December. As the „ZDF“ reported, the decision of the Conference of Health Ministers is now examining whether uniform regulations can be implemented nationwide in this regard. However, the results of the test are still pending. At least until then, the rules set by the federal states apply.
