QUESTIONS TO THE MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR
Secondly, Jorge Montoya, congressman of the bench of Popular Renewal, said in an interview with Exitosa that the president Pedro Castillo must remove the new Minister of the Interior from office, Luis Barranzuela placeholder image. The reason he put forward was the fact that he was the legal representative of Vladimir Cerrón and Guido Bellido in investigations of alleged money laundering.
The retired Vice Admiral indicated that Barranzuela is not the right person for the Interior Ministry, because he was discharged from the Police in 1993 as a disciplinary measure. He did not rule out that an interpellation motion could be debated in the Congress of the Republic.
“I ask the president to change it, please make the right change at the right time. We will see later what we can do [sobre una posible interpelación], the Constitution does not give many outputs, let’s see which is the best“, I note.
He added that Barranzuela has a number of sanctions “that I hadn’t seen in my entire career. That denotes him as a person not suitable for the position, regardless of the knowledge he has, a representative of the country has to be impeccable in his service record”.
He also recalled that the current minister has been a lawyer for people under investigation and it is a danger that he now has access to privileged information.
He believes that Barranzuela has been put in office to protect Peru Libre’s secretary general, Vladimir Cerrón. “The government is not interested in having impeccable ministers, it is interested in fulfilling objectives and tasks. This one has a specific task: to protect Cerrón. There is no one who is by chance in the position they have been given, they all have a goal”, He declared.
