In the course of loading hay, a 51-year-old fell three meters through a large gap in the intermediate floor.

A 51-year-old woman was busy loading hay in a barn in Riezlern early Monday afternoon (November 21, 2022). When she tried to throw hay from the mezzanine onto the level below, several loosely attached floorboards slipped. Suddenly there was a large gap across the floor, which the 51-year-old did not notice at first. However, as she continued to move on the mezzanine floor, the woman from Vorarlberg suddenly stepped into the void and fell legs first through the hole three meters down, where she remained lying, seriously injured.

The father of the victim, who had witnessed the incident directly, immediately went to his neighbor to make an emergency call. After first aid had been provided by the emergency doctor and rescue at the scene of the accident, the seriously injured had to be rescued using a turntable ladder by the Riezlern fire brigade. The 51-year-old was flown to the neighboring clinic in Riezlern by the emergency doctor helicopter Christopherus 8.
