At FC Bayern, Harry Kane is not leaning too far out of the window when it comes to personnel. “He’s a very good player, but there are other good players too”, explains Bayern boss Oliver Kahn when asked by ‘Sky’. An example is Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who has been in top form for weeks. Then you sit down “after the world cup together”.
One thing is clear: Choupo-Moting in the nine position is not a promising solution. The Cameroonian will be 34 next March. The Munich-based company would like to extend the expiring contract, but other clubs such as Manchester United are also interested. An extension is not set in stone.
In this respect, it is not surprising that Bayern are dealing with many options. Kahn confirms: “We deal with a lot of players.” The former world-class keeper pushes through Kane: “It’s not okay to talk about players who are under contract with other clubs.” By 2024, that will be the case with Kane. If he does not extend, a change next summer would be inevitable.
Ronaldo not an issue
Cristiano Ronaldo has been officially on the market for around a week. However, the 37-year-old, who is now without a contract, is still out of the question as a possible reinforcement. He can “exclude”assures Kahn, “we all know, we all love Cristiano Ronaldo”but the world star simply does not fit the philosophy.
