Finally peace in the company chat: VNCtalk 4.0 with a new user role without write permissions

The newly released main version of the corporate communication tool VNCtalk provides a number of features that should be of interest primarily for consultation in large companies. In group chats, chat initiators can now assign the status “Audience” in addition to the already known roles “Participant” and “Moderator”. The latter users can continue to follow the conversation, but are not allowed to participate in it themselves and remain muted.

A new survey tool is also on board, which integrates VNCtalk directly into chats. The questioners have various survey variants at their disposal, such as text-based answer fields, multiple-choice answers or drop-down menus. The document preview via an integrated OnlyOffice instance is also new. Comments and collaborative work on documents should also be possible directly in VNCtalk.

Along with these major changes, Update 4.0 also brings some minor changes. These include the emoji reactions to text messages that are now obligatory in collaboration software, the mass deletion of one’s own messages and the option of copying images from chats to one’s own clipboard.

More information and screenshots of the new functions can be found here in the release notes of the provider. VNCtalk is part of the VNClagoon Enterprise Product Suite, which is explicitly aimed at companies and consists of further developments of well-known open source tools. The last main version of VNCtalk was released at the end of 2020 and brought new features, especially for admins.
