“Find the best solution”: Lewandowski confirms change request

Robert Lewandowski has publicly announced for the first time that he no longer sees his future at Bayern Munich. After the last Bundesliga game at VfL Wolfsburg (2-2), the top scorer said on ‘Sky’: “I can confirm that with Hasan [Salihamidzic, Anm. d. Red.] spoke and informed him that the decision had been made (…) and that I would not be extending my contract with FC Bayern.” The sports director had already given information about this process before the game.

However, Lewandowski himself knows that he “one more year contract” and Bayern could therefore insist on staying. At the same time, the 33-year-old center forward emphasizes: “Both sides have to think about the future. It is best if we find the best solution for both sides. I said that if an offer comes, then we have to think about it.”

According to reports, Lewandowski wants to switch to FC Barcelona this summer. The Catalans are said to be ready to submit an offer. The talk was recently of 35 to 40 million euros. Lewandowski has signed a three-year contract at the Camp Nou, while Bayern only wanted to extend it by one season. Now it actually seems as if the paths could separate after eight years together.
