Monday 1er August, residents of the town of Mano, in the Landes, are again evacuated due to a fire. They experience worry and weariness.

Mano (Landes) is again threatened by the flames, Monday 1er august. This is the second fire in less than a month in this sector. On Sunday July 31, a plume of smoke was visible from the forest. Some were worried. “As soon as we saw the fires, I came home, I told my wife to prepare a bag”explains Lionel Duchamps, a resident of Mano (Landes).

The inhabitants of this town had already been evacuated during the fires of Landiras, located only 30 km away. Residents help firefighters, but are tired of these repeated fires. “As soon as we undo things, we have to redo them. It’s a permanent stress, we spend our time doing that”explains a woman. “The main thing is that we managed to evacuate all the people concerned (…) now people still cannot go home”, adds another. The fire is contained but not fixed and 300 hectares of pine burned.
