Several vehicle bodies caught fire on Monday evening on the scrap island in Duisburg. This formed a light cloud of smoke over the urban area, which moved in a southerly direction. Nina was also warned via the app. According to the fire brigade, there was no danger to the population at any time.
The fire brigade moved with them 50 emergency services and extinguished the junk cars with heavy foam. The adjacent scrap heap was protected with extinguishing water. This prevented the fire from spreading any further.
