This Sunday, January 23, the Association in Defense of Armed Forces Pensioners (FAES) and the Armed Forces Social Welfare Institute (IPSFA), reported on the death of Lieutenant María Elena Mendoza Quan; in Bamako, Republic of Mali, West Africa.

It should be noted that the reasons or causes that caused the death of the compatriot are still unknown.

From a long family tradition in the Armed Forces, she leaves behind her father, retired Colonel Julio César Mendoza Ramos, and three more brothers who are still active in the FAES, since she was the sister of Captain Julio César Mendoza Quan, Captain Sofía Steffanie Mendoza Quan and Captain Andrea Michel Mendoza Quan.

For her part, Quan de Rivas graduated as Central America’s first female attack pilot of an A-37B warplane in 2016, according to the Ministry of National Defense records.

According to recent information released regarding the case, the fatality was specifically on leave in Bamako, working for the United Nations (UN).
