Fuel prices: diesel continues to fall

For 95-E10 unleaded petrol, the drop was very slight, with a decline of 0.4 cents, and an average price of 1.496 euros per litre.

Stable prices since early September

Prices are stabilizing after the sharp drop recorded since September 1, when the government rebate was reduced from 18 to 30 centimes per litre. At the same time, TotalEnergies applies an additional discount of 20 centimes per liter on its entire network (Total and Total Access), which has also caused a sharp increase in attendance in recent days, with some stations out of stock. partial or total.

As a reminder, the government discount will be 30 cents until November 1, when it must be reduced to 10 cents until January 1, 2023. The 20 cent discount applied by TotalEnergies must end on November 1.

One liter of diesel at February level

In this context, and despite the price of a barrel of Brent rising slightly last week (+1.2 dollars per barrel to 91.9 dollars), fuel prices are back at historically low levels.

We have to go back to the beginning of February 2022, before the start of the war in Ukraine, to see diesel below 1.7 euros per liter on average in France. For gasoline, we have to go back to the end of April 2021 to find an average price below 1.5 euros.
