The forest fire that occurred yesterday in the El Carmen canton sector of the San Salvador volcano devastated 17 blocks of land, affecting the flora and fauna of the place, Civil Protection authorities detailed during a press conference, in which they also indicated that thanks Due to the rapid and timely intervention of the system, it was possible to control it at 2:00 in the morning this Sunday, avoiding further damage.
According to the authorities of the Fire Department of El Salvador, to attend to and control the fire, the intervention of more than 60 firefighters from the central station, the fourth, second and third stations was necessary, who were joined by elements of the Operational Tactical Team Civil Protection and the army, to add more than 100 people who worked until the early hours of the morning on the ground, difficult to access.
With conventional and manual equipment, cutting work was carried out to prevent the advance of the fire, detailed the authorities.
The director of the Fire Department, Baltazar Solano, pointed out that the fire was not the result of the wind conditions that have been recorded in the country in recent hours, which present gusts of between 25 and 50 kilometers per hour, but rather that they suspect that it was caused by undue burning that they carried out in the area.
Solano indicated that fire personnel are still in the area carrying out the necessary investigations to establish the cause and origin of the fire, which fortunately did not cause human damage or damage to any house in the area.
